The National Sailing Academy has been rated as one of the best small-boat sailing locations in Europe. In 2004, the academy received £7.85m of funding to develop the centre to accommodate for the 2012 Olympics. The development work will included a longer dual-aspect slipway and more race-boat parking, lifting and mooring facilities. Training facilities are already in place for the British Olympic and Paralmpic sailing teams to train at the academy.
